Sample Essay on Balance Between Work and Life
Sample Essay on Balance Between Work and LifeTo write a successful sample essay on balance between work and life, you should examine your own preferences. Make sure that your sample paper is the outcome of you, not the school. You should know what it is that you value about being at work and what you really value about being at school. At work, you get to do something, and it pays. There are no weekends, no holidays. You have a guaranteed income that doesn't change. The advantage that you get at work is highly effective and fast.In contrast, at school, you are in a classroom with the rest of the students, and you can only perform your tasks and activities to the extent that the rules of the class allow. You get to choose the people that you want to spend time with. You get to think about subjects that interest you, but you don't get to do them. You get to talk to your friends about things that interest you, but you don't get to learn from them. You get to study without the benefit of a teacher to help you, and you get to carry out your task in a limited number of hours that may be less than those in the workplace. At school, you get to do things for yourself and for others. You get to set your own pace and your own hours, and you get to be creative and to try out things that you wouldn't otherwise have thought of. If you were to give some of those at work to your co-workers, they would get more done per hour, and their work time would be much more productive. At work, you get to do the same thing, but at least you get to do it in a bigger space. You can do two jobs at the same time, at the same place, and that requires planning. When you work at home, you have to make time for your family. When you work in the neighborhood, you need to work in the busy part of town.At work, you have to make plans so that you can be there when you need to be there. At school, you don't. At home, you have plans for family activities that you need to plan and organize. At the workpla ce, you might not be able to control when you get sick or when your schedule is messed up. At the school, though, you can control these things. At work, you need to make plans to keep people happy and contented. At school, you get to make plans to make your family happy and contented. At home, we all have lives that we need to manage. At the workplace, though, you can't make plans to keep you in the flow of learning. At work, you have a deadline and a few weeks to meet it. At school, you have to finish by the end of the next day. At home, we need to make plans to keep us in the flow of our day-to-day life.

US electoral college essays
US electoral college essays ELECTORAL COLLEGE SYSTEM: Is it time for a change? The recent presidential election brought to the forefront of the American publics mind the question of whether the Electoral College remains an appropriate method of electing the nations highest-ranking public official. Although the closeness of this race reminded the general public that they did not have the right to directly elect the president, the debate as to the value of this system, or the question of what is the best method, is not new. In fact, the shortcomings of the Electoral College system have for some time been the subject of academic debate (Abbott). Over the years, the favor, and disfavor, of the Electoral College system has ebbed and flowed with the possibility of an election resulting in no majority winner, due to a viable third party candidate, or the possibility of a president being elected without winning the popular vote. Thus, with the recent election of president Bush, who failed to win the popular vote, yet garnered the 270 Electoral Votes necessary to atta in a majority, the debate has again gained momentum as not a purely academic question (Wildvasky). While the Electoral College system does serve several arguably desirable objectives, it also limits the personal power of the voter. This paper will look at both sides of the debate, and then draw a conclusion as to whether or not the value of the Electoral College system outweighs the costs. However, before looking at the pros and cons of our present system, it is best to begin with an explanation of how the Electoral College system came about and its original intended purposes. By understanding this, the foundation of the Electoral College system can be applied to the 21st century and examined for its relevance. Finally, this paper will conclude that the Electoral College system does not fit with the realities of 21st century elections, nor is it even being used, as it was intended when adopt...

Poring over Pore and Pour
Poring over Pore and Pour Poring over Pore and Pour Poring over Pore and Pour By Maeve Maddox Some confusion appears to exist regarding the use of pour and pore. Charlie complains that he has to pour through stacks of badly-written letters to the editor every day. In this context the word should be pore. The usual idiom is to pore over. Apparently the preposition through has entered into use, as in the above quotation, and as in this headline in the New York Times: Teachers Pore Through Stacks Of Possibilities The verb pore, with the meaning examine closely, may derive from two Old English words, a verb, spyrian, meaning to investigate, examine, and a noun, spor, meaning a trace, vestige. The noun pore, meaning an opening in the skin, is not related to the verb in the expression to pore over. The noun comes from a Greek word meaning a passageway. The verb pour, meaning to transfer water or some other substance from a container, came into English by way of Old French from a Latin verb, purare, to purify. In ritual practice, objects are purified by pouring water over them. The English word pure comes from Latin purus, pure. The Latin verb came from the Latin noun. American politics and parties - Essay Example etermine whether they will further have to narrow down the number of candidates to the expected number or they can keep the selected members till the period close to the time of the primaries. The members select these nominees in relation to popularity among stateââ¬â¢s members. Direct Primary Nomination for State and Congress offices takes place before the general election. One nominee is selected from among the selected nominees during the preprimary nominations. The selected nominee becomes the candidate to go for the States or Congress office. In the general elections, these elected congress and state officers, Electoral College, elect the President. The political party with the most seats in States and Congressional offices is able to pass their presidential candidate during the general elections although today it might not be always the case. Delegates are divided among the states by the national parties by apportioning them in relation to the number of voters in each state. The higher the number of votes a state has, the more the number of delegates they select from that state. The most populated cities such as New York is apportioned more delegates than other smaller cities. In my opinion, this is the case because there are more people being represented in one city than the other. Therefore to ensure even representation, the delegates are selected in relation to percentage other than state. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party in the U.S. select their presidential candidates by the process of primary elections. Nomination process starts when voters choose delegates from their states to attend a national party convention to elect their partyââ¬â¢s presidential candidate. This is followed by the selected delegates, attending a partyââ¬â¢s national convention whereby they select their preferred presidential candidate. The delegates select for a presidential candidate as per the preference or their states. Therefore, the more popular, aspiring

Human Karyotyping (Biology) Lab Report Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Human Karyotyping (Biology) - Lab Report Example Any deviation in the normal pattern could be ruled out as a change that affects health and development of the individual. It is evident that human cells normally contain 23 pairs of chromosomes. Hypothesis: If there is an increase or decrease in the number of chromosomes, the process is called aneuploidy; it directly affects the development of the organism. These changes occur as a result of non disjunction of chromosomes during the process of meiosis. As a result one of the daughter cells receives either extra or insufficient chromosomes. Variables: The common form of aneuploidy is trisomy, which implies the presence of three copies of the chromosome in cells in place of normal two copies. In Klinefelterââ¬â¢s Syndrome where the sex chromosome is present in extra copy resulting in XXY, where as if the trisomy occurs in autosome like in the case of Down Syndrome trisomy of 21st chromosome occur and if this trisomy occur in 13th chromosome then it results in Trisomy 13 Syndrome resulting in cell with 47 chromosomes instead of usual 46. Methods: Cut the homologous chromosomes. Arrange then on construction paper in descending order of their size. Glue them when arranged as in the figure A. any additional chromosome is found match with its homologue to find out which chromosome is having additional copy. Arrange all the pairs of chromosomes with shorter end towards top and longer one towards the bottom. Mark them with the marker pen; rule out the genetic condition of the Karyotype. Raw data: chromosomes condense during the process of cell division and are therefore visible under light microscope. In Karyotype cells are stained with Giemsa dye. Dark and light band pattern is observed. Metacentric chromosomes have centromere in the center or near the central part of the chromosome. Acrocentric: the centromere is near the end of the chromosome. Telocentric: centromere is terminally located. Chromosomes

Federalist #10 :: essays research papers
Madison begins perhaps the most famous of the Federalist papers by stating that one of the strongest arguments in favor of the Constitution is the fact that it establishes a government capable of controlling the violence and damage caused by factions. Madison defines that factions are groups of people who gather together to protect and promote their special economic interests and political opinions. Although these factions are at odds with each other, they frequently work against the public interests, and infringe upon the rights of others. Both supporters and opponents of the plan are concerned with the political instability produced by rival factions. The state governments have not succeeded in solving this problem; in fact the situation is so problematic that people are disillusioned with all politicians and blame government for their problems. Consequently, a form of popular government that can deal successfully with this problem has a great deal to recommend it. Given the nature of man, factions are inevitable. As long as men hold different opinions, have different amounts of wealth, and own different amount of property, they will continue to fraternize with people who are most similar to them. Both serious and trivial reasons account for the formation of factions but the most important source of faction is the unequal distribution of property. Men of greater ability and talent tend to possess more property than those of lesser ability, and since the first object of government is to protect and encourage ability, it follows that the rights of property owners must be protected. Property is divided unequally, and, in addition, there are many different kinds of property; men have different interests depending upon the kind of property they own. For example, the interests of landowners differ from those who own businesses. Government must not only protect the conflicting interests of property owners, it must, at the same time, successfully regul ate the conflicts that result from those who own, and those who do not own, property. To Madison, there are only two ways to control a faction: one, to remove its causes and the second to control its effects. The first is impossible. There are only two ways to remove the causes of a faction: destroy liberty or give every citizen the same opinions, passions, and interests. Destroying liberty is a "cure worse then the disease itself," and the second is impracticable. The causes of factions are thus part of the nature of man and we must deal with their effects and accept their existence.
